Mississippi Hospital Association - J.W. Jones was named an honorary member. This distinction recognizes the outstanding public or private service within the association. Jones has worked in various capacities at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center since 1980.

She is an associate professor of communication sciences and disorders at the University of Mississippi. Higdon received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Kent State University and her doctorate degree from the University of Georgia.
