“School Enrichment” |
Posted: 13 Oct 2010 07:02 PM PDT COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) - A group of 41 Sale Elementary students traveled to the Mississippi University for Women campus to learn first hand about international studies. Students learned in depth about different countries and their cultures. The College of Education and Human Sciences is providing the activities to students at Sale as part of the school's extended year program. First through fifth graders worked on the Mississippi Frameworks curriculum through the enrichment activities. The goal is not only to further their curriculum objectives but show their growth and development. Organizers say it also gives education students at the "W" a chance to get some real life experience. Jeanne Holland with the MUW Education Department says, "Our group that are working with our enrichment students, which basically means they have risen above their peers as far as enrichment. We're hoping to push the boundaries today and help them reach some Mississippi benchmarks in a higher level." Students from Sale will return to the "W" in February and April of 2011 where they will have different activities to focus on.
