QUEENSBURY -- Adirondack Community College announced Tuesday that is has canceled a planned International Studies trip to Egypt that was scheduled from May 20 to June 14.

The college cited the current unrest in that country as the reason.

"We believe it is in our best interest to postpone the Egypt class," said Valerie Haskins, professor of anthropology and archaeology at ACC and an International Studies adviser. "We will offer an alternative trip in May for those who have already paid and wish to transfer their funds.

Details regarding the alternative destination and course will be announced as soon as they become available.

"We will monitor the situation in Egypt carefully, and if safety issues, infrastructure issues and other issues are stable within a few months, we may be able to do the trip in January," Haskins said in a press release.
