Monterey Institute of International Studies: Instructor 'misrepresented' his credentials

Posted: 27 Nov 2010 06:51 AM PST

An instructor contracted by the Monterey Institute of International Studies "misrepresented" his credentials, the Institute said this week in a press release. MIIS said it is working with several law enforcement agencies that are investigating Bill Hillar, who claimed on his résumé that he is a "retired colonel of the U.S. Army Special Forces" and to have earned a Ph.D. at the University of Oregon.

MIIS claims Hillar misrepresented his academic credentials to the Institute.

"The Institute's review found that Mr. Hillar had not earned a Ph.D. at the University of Oregon, and the Institute has been unable to obtain any military records that substantiate Hillar's claims regarding his military service," the MIIS statement read.

Hillar has not responded to requests from the Institute to provide supporting documentation for the credentials claimed on his resume, according to the statement.
